Just posted the electrical review. More to come on electrical later as the main panel is installed and we run underground conduit from the power line to eliminate overhead hydro wires.
The house is pretty much weather tight. Shingles on, Everest 40 year, architectural shingles. A couple of doors have been left off to facilitate the over pour for in floor heating in the basement and main floor. Basement is being poured tomorrow which will allow us to start the log framed stair well.
The windows are Andersen and are highly recommended by Kuhns Bros. These are a vinyl clad, wood window. They look great, however they're not cheap. The top of the line, solid vinyl, window is also a good choice, especially considering the cheaper price. They don't have the same insulation value and to be honest, there's something about a log home and solid vinyl, it just don't look right. Wood inside and vinyl outside seems to be is a nice compromise. We'll see if the extra investment was worth it a few years down the road. More on window installation and window trim later.
The stain is from Sashco. An excellent company to deal with. We received good advice and lots of sample containers before our final selection. You might find an equivalent stain, however it's tough to beat their service and customer help department. More on the application and color selection later.
